Dr. Nellie’s Bio

Elwood Chiropractic was reopened in December 2014 in honor of Dr. Nellie’s fiancé, Dr. David Elwood.

Dr. Nellie graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport.  Originally from New York, she decided to go to Palmer when her personal chiropractor told her, “If you want to be the best chiropractor, you have to go to Palmer College in Davenport.”

Dr. Nellie has completed more than 200 hours of focused training for prenatal and pediatric patients. She currently is pursuing her certification in Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics. Her practice, however, is not limited to just caring for younger patients. She loves seeing patients of all ages!

In her spare time, Dr. Nellie enjoys playing with her dog and participating in most outdoor activities. Dr. Nellie loves not only playing sports, but also enjoys watching games on television. As a child, she was a gymnast for most of her life and eventually gave it up and went on to play volleyball and run track in high school.

Dr. Nellie is excited to serve the Norwalk community with holistic care. She encourages all those who want to learn more about chiropractic to call or stop by the clinic to get more information. From David’s Bio

Dr. David Elwood, DC

In loving memory of Dr. David Elwood (June 30, 1984- September 14, 2014)

Dr. David Elwood opened Elwood Chiropractic, PLLC in Norwalk in January 2012. Dr. Elwood grew up in Cresco, Iowa and then went on to graduate with a degree in biology from Iowa State University. Following graduation from Iowa State, he continued his education at Palmer College of Chiropractic where he graduated magna cum laude.

His activities while at Palmer included being a clinical teaching assistant, a technique intern, serving as class treasurer, and a member of the sports injury club.  During his final year at Palmer, Dr. Elwood, participated in a clinic abroad trip to India where he and a group of fellow students gained clinical experience by evaluating and treating those living there in impoverished conditions.

Dr. Elwood enjoyed caring for patients of all ages with all types of injuries.  He always had an interest in treating athletes.  In addition to his coursework at Palmer, he spent four trimesters learning from and interning with a private practice field doctor who specializes in extremity adjusting.  Dr. Elwood uses this knowledge to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries.

In his spare time, Dr. Elwood enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially if it involved being on the water in the summer.  He like doing anything outdoors and staying active.  He did, however, always enjoy sitting down and watching a good movie.

Dr. Elwood was very excited to be located in Norwalk and had always loved being able to help improve people’s health and wellness through chiropractic.
